Baccarat Myths
Baccarat has been around for years; in fact, it can trace its roots back several centuries, to the 14th Century. After time, it became a popular game, and by the 19th century, it was one of the most popular and highly regarded games in Europe.
With the advent of the internet, and the possibility for more players to discover casino games that they may not have otherwise been fortunate enough to play, baccarat is again seeing resurgence in its popularity. However, whilst the internet can be credited for its increasing popularity, it can also probably be blamed for encouraging various myths about the game too.
For example, some people have come to believe that card counting can be used in baccarat. Whilst there is certainly some truth in the potential for card counting to give blackjack players some kind of advantage, the same simply is not true with baccarat. Whilst there are similarities that may lead people to think that card counting may be effective – such as the fact that both games use the same deck – there are too many critical differences between the games that mean card counting simply doesn’t work in baccarat.
Moving on from card counting to patterns or systems, we will discover more untruths about the game. Both of which are believed by some people to hold some positive ability to sway the game in the players favour. Again, as with card counting, this sadly is not true. The crux of the matter is that baccarat is a game of chance; whilst poker or roulette players are used to employing a greater degree of skill, baccarat relies more on luck and intuition.
The final myth that needs mentioning is one that suggests that baccarat is one of the least profitable casino games to play. The reality is that it actually has one of the lowest house edges of all the casino games. Subsequently, it offers a better chance of winning and is, therefore, far from the least profitable game and is, in fact, potentially one of the most profitable games.
